Important tips to go around Japan
* Japanese culture places high importance on punctuality. Surcharge for exceeding the waiting time is minimum JP¥5,000/hour
* Don’t make a day to day packed itinerary, as trains and walking take time
* Book visa and bullet trains in advance
* Wear comfortable shoes as there is lot of walking
* Book your stay near metro lines, and Make time to find out the metro line your stay falls upon.
* Don’t buy Osaka day pass, if it doesn’t include your line
* Litter bins are rare, so carry your own bag to collect trash
* Carry an extra carry bag for shopping
* Emergency Number: dial 110 – police, 119 – fire / medical emergencies.
* Electrical Outlets: Japan uses Type A and Type B plugs, and the voltage is 100V.
* Water: Tap water is safe to drink in Japan
* Queueing: Japan has orderly queues everywhere, from trains to elevators
* Vending Machines: Japan is famous for its vending machines that offer everything from drinks, snacks, hot meals. Few machines only accept coins.
* Photographing: It is restricted in many areas like temples, shrines, museums etc.
* On Shinkasen, there is a Baggage restrictions (Size: the combined length, width and height may not exceed 250 cm, Luggage longer than 2m is prohibited, Within 30 kg, The quantity is limited to 2 pieces of luggage
* The city tax ranges from JPY 100-1000 pp, per night based on nightly room rate.
